Section 156. A record for each magazine, kept two years after the date it is made,
recording each type of explosive stored, the quantity of each type, and the dates each was placed in and removed.
The blasting log is a different record with a five-year retention.

Deterioration and expiry
Emulsion lot E-2231 expires 14 Sep
Explosives must be checked regularly for deterioration and expiry. Anything deteriorated, expired or misfired must be marked Deteriorated/Détérioré, Expired/Périmé or Misfired/Raté and safely destroyed.
Marked with the required bilingual wording and routed to destruction — not back to stock.
Retention: two years from the date each entry is made (Explosives Regulations, 2013, s. 156). An unexplained discrepancy routes to incident reporting, because the loss of an explosive is reportable.
